Finding Peace in the midst of crazy kid schedules, that is a challenge.
Last week was our Spring Break. As you can tell by my the lack of blog posts, I did not spend the week on the computer. Actually, I was basically computer free. The week was filled with beach trips, a birthday celebration, eating yummy food, reading good books and just spending time together. It was wonderful.
Keeping perspective of what is important can get hard sometimes. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon at a funeral for a sweet little girl. Nothing like a funeral to truly knock your perspective in the right direction!
And then there have been so many blog posts and articles on the whole Mommy Wars. You know how someone criticized a certain Mother saying she never worked a day in her life. It has given me a laugh to read all the different opinions. This is not a polictical blog so I won’t go there. However, in creating The Sandbucket Blog and Magazine I really hoped to celebrate the art of Motherhood.
After reading an article last week I was reminded by something my husband said to me so long ago. I doubt he even remembers saying it, but it has stuck with me and I remind myself of it often. It was when I was pregnant with my first child. I was still in College, in my last semester before I graduated. Many of my friends were going on to get their Masters. I was having a tough time handling morning sickness, homework, papers to be written and finals coming up. I am sure I was having a pity party, being hard on myself wondering why I couldn’t get it all done.
Then he said…”YOU ARE GROWING AN ENTIRE HUMAN BEING INSIDE YOUR BODY!
WHAT COULD BE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN THAT?
THAT IS THE BEST THING EVER.”
And he was right. Nothing was more important than that. And still nothing is more important than raising a human being…or even six. It gets overwhelming at times. But they are in fact my top priority. I hope all the Sandbucket Readers who are Mom’s know how amazing you are. What an important job that is in your hands. It is tough. It is joyful. It is an education. It will push you to your limits and will bring you bundles of joy.
It is worth it. Nothing could be better. It is the best thing ever! You will meet people who don’t get it, who don’t understand the greatness of Motherhood. That’s ok, as long as you do. So enjoy!

Thank you, Sandi, for describing motherhood so beautifully. So sorry for those who don’t get it.
I think this is my favorite post from you ever, my dear. Just love the conviction of the importance of motherhood. Best. job. on. planet. Looking forward to next issue where women and motherhood are celebrated!! xo
