Confessions from a California Girl

I was born and raised in Orange County California, long before anyone called it The O.C.

I love it here.  I love the orange blossoms and home grown avocados.  I hate being cold.

My happy place is sitting on the beach surrounded by my family.

However, I have to confess.  I loved being in the snow this past weekend.  It was good for the soul.

What a beautiful world we live in.

We met up with my hubby’s brother and his family and stayed in Sundance, Utah.

Oh what fun we had.

Stomping around in the piles of white.  Sledding and exploring, even making miniature snowmen. It was good for the soul to get away with the family and just play.

No, I didn’t not ask Gracie to lay down in the snow for a shot.

She was making snow angels and then stopped and just laid there gazing up at the snow filled trees.

On the left is Parker.  He turned 17 this week.  I have no idea how that can even be possible.

On the right is my brother in law.  We like to call him the professor now that he is all grown up and teaching at college.  I love how his son’s nose is the only thing poking out in this picture.  I am sad I didn’t get a picture of their whole family together.  We didn’t get a shot of my family together either.  Too much playing going on.  No time to sit for a posed picture!

So sad I didn’t get a picture of my sister-in-law and their happy happy baby G.

And with the snow comes snow ball fights.  And even some wrestling.

We love going to Sundance.  There is so much to do there. Besides sledding half of the family got in some skiing.  Claire and I even took a jewelry making class.  We made some sweet rings.  Piper and cousins went to a print making class.  We also went down to Provo and met up with some more cousins for pizza and then caught a BYU volleyball game.  On Saturday night and Sunday morning the snow kept coming down.  We were snowed in on Sunday.  Since we couldn’t make it to church we held our own little church meeting at the house.  We got all dressed up in our Sunday best.  Parker, Claire and Grace had given talks at church recently so they had them on their phones and laptops.  They graciously uplifted us with their messages.  It was a wonderful family vacation.   So great to get away from the hectic schedules and just be together.  I think Max’s shirt pretty much sums up his Snow day.  It reads “TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER!”(And yes, he does have a snow jacket.  He took it off for the last bit of snow play of the day.)
