A Day Trip to Versailles – and the Matilda Jane Dress that will travel the World

DAY 4 :  A day that we will never forget.  But, first things first.  Let me introduce you to a dress.  A dress sent by Matilda Jane Clothing.  This dress will travel the World.  We got to take it first and decided to take it with us for Piper to wear to Versailles, France.  We will now send it off to another photographer somewhere in the World.  They will take photos of a girl in her home town or traveling somewhere and tell us about a little bit about themselves and details about where they are.  Each destination of this dress will be posted here on this blog as well as MJ so follow along to keep up with it’s adventures.  I am really excited to hear where it goes.  ….Ok, now on to tell you about our adventure.

First, we took a train from Paris to Versailles.  Trains are so much fun, especially when you have brothers and sisters to sit with ( and on).  We went out to Versailles with a Bike tour group called Bike About Tours.  They were fabulous.  Amber was our guide and she was wonderful.  Once we walked off the train they set us all up on bikes.  We first rode to the town market where we could buy food for our lunch.  If you haven’t noticed we really enjoyed these french markets and off course buying yummy food.  Oh, and while we waited for the rest of our group to come back we ordered some crepes to share.  Never pass up a crepe stand is my motto.  And then we got back on our bikes and rode through the grounds of The Palace of Versailles.  Wow!  That was amazing.

Our older kids said that this was their favorite day of the trip.  We would stop riding here and there to walk around and tour the grounds.  Piper rode on the back of her Daddy’s bike and giggles about the fact that she had a free ride since she didn’t really pedal much.  And thankfully, she has a patient brother who gives her rides on his shoulders.  And then back on our bikes to ride to our destination for lunch….along the canals of Versailles,

where we had a picnic and fed the ducks and just enjoyed the view.  Then back on our bikes for more fun.  We then went to tour Marie Antoinette’s Farmhouse, which was amazing.  And then we went to tour the Palace which was also amazing but oh, so crowded.  All in all, it was an incredible day.  One, as a family we will be talking about for years to come.  I will keep you posted on where in the world this dress goes next!  Thank you Matilda Jane Clothing for supplying such a fun dress for this exciting project!
